Announcement for Full-Time Faculty Position

Worship & Music Faculty (Rank Open)

Position Description:

This is a full-time faculty position, beginning January 1, 2012. Salary is commensurate with experience and degree held at the time of appointment. The faculty member will teach on average 24 undergraduate credit hours an academic year, which includes preparing syllabi, teaching, and evaluating instructional outcomes of assigned courses. The faculty member will serve as the faculty advisor for students in the Worship and Music program. The faculty member will attend committee and faculty meetings, and maintain regular office hours. Full-time faculty are expected to pursue professional development appropriate to the field in which they are hired, in this case worship and music ministry; and be involved in church and community service opportunities.

Qualifications:

Ideal: Ph.D., D.Min., D.W.S., or D.M., or a related academic discipline; teaching experience, and church ministry experience.

Minimum: Masters degree in Music, 5 years church ministry experience, and minimal teaching experience.

The candidate must be able to teach across the wide breadth of worship and music related disciplines (i.e. music theory, music appreciation, worship technology, theology of worship, piano or guitar), and demonstrate currency on issues and trends as they relate to worship and the church.

A high value of Mid-Atlantic Christian University is the practice of ministry. Therefore, the candidate must be one who has proven him/herself in extensive and successful worship and music ministry.

The applicant must be experientially and theologically committed to the Stone-Campbell faith tradition, and in full agreement with the school’s doctrinal statement.

Other Responsibilities:

The candidate must possess a mature Christian faith and be able to demonstrate teaching competence, scholarly ability and be knowledgeable in his/her discipline. One must be able to contribute to the well being and advancement of an academic Christian community by integrating scholarship with the community’s faith tradition. The candidate must be a person of virtuous character and lifestyle who is willing to invest him/herself in the holistic development of students. The candidate must be committed to both ministerial and discipleship training in a Christian college context.
